Asheboro City Schools will offer school tours and information sessions at North Asheboro and South Asheboro Middle Schools during September and November. Current 5th grade students and families are encouraged to attend to hear valuable information to make for a smooth transition from elementary to middle school.
“The transition from fifth grade to sixth is very exciting for our students and families. This is a time when students are continuing to expand their minds and meeting new friends from other schools. When our students graduate from fifth grade, they are finishing as strong, independent learners. Our middle school tours help to continue that momentum and ensure an even stronger start to middle school. This ensures our students are successful in sixth grade and beyond,” said Dr. Terry Worrell, Superintendent for Asheboro City Schools.
Families and students attending these tours and information sessions will first hear from the school’s principal and what they can anticipate in the sixth grade. Students will learn about class changes, using a locker, their lunch period, participating in school sports, and what is expected of them as middle school students. Families will be provided information about how they can help support their child with homework, extra-curricular activities, and having a positive start to their child’s middle school years.
North Asheboro and South Asheboro Middle Schools will host sixth grade meetings for fifth grade families on the following dates: Wednesday, September 27 from 6 - 7 p.m. and Tuesday, November 7 from 6- 7 p.m.
